When a film series becomes old what do you do? Make it fresh by starting at the beginning, let's just hope this is the last time they do this.

The film focuses on the violent past of the mutant Wolverine and his relationship with his half-brother Victor Creed. The plot also details Wolverine's early encounters with Colonel William Stryker, his time with Team X and the bonding of Wolverine's skeleton with the indestructible metal adamant during the Weapon X program.

In the other three films of the X-Men franchise, all the mutants seem accepted and allowed to be normal in regular society. However, in this one they sort of feel isolated and in its own universe, so it was hard to connect them to real people.

A lot of the film was not explained: like why does Wolverine stay at one age for the rest of his life although he grows older as a kid. And also why does Colonel Stryker decide to make Blackpool XI halfway through the movie. So many things didn't seem explained to me and I was furthermore lost.

The movie seemed by as soon as the first hour was over they started to really push towards the end and starts turning everything to become very incoherent. Though I did like the characters introduced I thought many were introduced simply for the fact of another spin-off.

Despite these negatives there were surprisingly some positives. The opening sequence is awesome and catches you right away, the action sequences are pretty exciting to watch, and the cast actually does try their hardest with this cliche-ridden script. Ryan Reynolds I thought does an awesome job as Deadpool and out of all the characters I would love to see him have a spin-off movie.

Despite some of the positives this film is really overall dumb and compared to other superhero films pretty weak especially for the X-Men franchise. Be sure to see a Deadpool or Gambit spin-off in the makes soon.

I really enjoyed this, I haven't really read any of the comics or stayed with the series or anything but as a movie I thought it was really great and entertaining.nnI do agree though, some stuff just didn't make sense.

I just got back from watching this movie, and wow. This was such an amazing movie. I want to see it again because it was that good. As a lot of you know this movie takes place way, way before the events in the "X-Men" movies takes place. And trust me, you'll love the ending. And as some of you know, there's a little Easter Egg in the credits. Unless there is more then one, then that would've been cool, but the scene that I saw that was shown in the end credits was 'ok', it was nothing special though.

So I don't want to explain much about this movie, you just have to see it for yourself. There are only few references that links this movie to the other three. I am kind of disappointed of how much screen time Deadpool, a.k.a. Wade Wilson, got in this movie. But I guess they are saving him up for the "Deadpool" spin-off I've heard about. That would be cool. Over all, I can't really complain about this movie. All actors were great, especially Hugh Jackman who plays our favorite character in all the movies so far respectively; Wolverine. I take my hat off to the crew of this movie. They've really out done themselves. This movie is much better then "X-Men: The Last Stand", I mean really better then that movie.

But I don't know about the true fans of both Wolverine and the X-Men will be pleased with this movie. A lot was changed from the source material, and I guess that's for the good for the plot. The plot itself was truly amazing too. I am still blown away from the special effects, and action sequences in this movie. After seeing this movie, I just wanted to see more. But I guess since this movie is a prequel, seeing more of it would mean I just have to watch all three X-Men movies all over again in order. Which to me, that's not a bad idea. I just have to ignore the flaws and the lack of character development in the third movie, and that's just good enough for me.

If you're just a fan of the X-Men movies, what are you waiting for? Go out and see this movie! And bring a couple of your friends too, trust me they're probably going to walk out of the movie theater after the movie is over and can't stop talking about it, and neither would you.

On second thought.... - 16 May 2009

The same day I went to see this movie, I had mixed feelings about it. That night I started to think over what was wrong with the movie. And there was a lot. But the plot was okay, it could've been better without all the added-in characters that looked like they were the last thing thought of for this movie without thinking how they will fit into the story. There wasn't enough of Deadpool/Wade Wilson, and Gambit in this movie. That was very disappointing for me, to see two great characters, and get wasted on the big screen. I don't care how they looked like on the big screen, they could've made it longer just to develop them. And the rest of the Weapon X team, they got literally wasted in this movie. Well only Bolt and Wraith, they gotten killed too easily. I don't care about how long Agent Zero was on screen, he was annoying the heck out of me. And Sabretooth turns out to be (*SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT*) Wolverine's brother? That was never in the comics, or in the TV shows that I know of. And he talks too? In the first "X-Men" movie he could barely say two words, let alone that he remembers who his own brother was. So they completely screwed up with the origins of Wolverine in this movie. I could've made this movie better. I would've pushed for a R-rating for this film, because it deserves it. Not some dumb PG-13 rating, where it has less blood and gore in it. Heck, the game for this movie captures Wolverine better then this movie ever did.

Ok, so yeah I had a problem with the action and violent scenes in this movie. When Wolverine or Deadpool stabs someone, no blood on their blades. Also, Wolverine's claws were a problem with me too. They were first kind of shaped round and bumpy, but when he gets the metal skeleton, they become perfectly flat-shaped knives. Now how the heck did that happen? Oh and another thing, what is the point of having those two old very nice couples at the barn when in the next 2 minutes or less they get killed off easily? So very pointless. I have to say this movie was more disappointing then "Spider-Man 3". But the action scenes were really nice and pretty darn awesome. If your a Wolverine fan, you might be very disappointed, but if you are just the type of person who likes really good action, then this is the movie for you. Like I said, the plot was okay, but it could've been better. Let's hope they don't screw up the sequel.

Yeah. The fact that there was no blood on the blades really annoyed me.
DCBargas - 6/13/2009 (reply)
In my opinion this movie should've pushed to the R-rating. But that's just my opinion.
Kevin - 6/15/2009 (reply)
Maybe they took out the blood so it wouldn't be R?
DCBargas - 6/23/2009 (reply)
Well it needed to be R, because in the comics Wolverine was a very brutal killing machine. That's what I saw in the recent first issue of X-Men Origins: Wolverine (it's not based off the movie, and the movie it's not based off from it either). So I don't know. It's still a good movie in it's own right, but I don't know if I want to see a sequel to this (since I heard Hugh Jackman is working on a Wolverine 2 now).
Kevin - 6/24/2009 (reply)
They might have tried to make it PG-13 so that they could have more box office sales?
Tusserte - 6/25/2009 (reply)
That's usually the case.
DCBargas - 6/27/2009 (reply)
Well I know that but still. Since it's PG-13, they had to make it eligible for younger audiences. And all I'm saying that Wolverine is not our typical superhero like Spider-Man. Wolverine is a vicious killing machine, but oh well. This movie is already done and dealt with for me. I just wish Hollywood doesn't have to ruin almost every franchise. In this case, I wish Fox would give the X-Men series a break but nope. Let's just see how the rest of the X-Men upcoming films turns out.
