I just got this movie today for $20 at Wal-Mart and I watched it with my dad during dinner. And WOW, this movie was amazing! It has amazing animation, a great cast, and a great director and crew. I wonder how the live-action version will top this because this was truly perfect for the Green Lantern fans and the general audience too. It's really a darn good movie, but not one for the kids. This movie contains so many blood and violence, and even though it's an animated movie! Well not all of animated movies are for youngsters. This movie got a PG-13 rating for a reason.

So it starts out with Hal Jordan as a jet pilot and suddenly on one of his routine missions, he was taken to an alien named Abin Surr that crashed on the deserted field and Hal was granted by the dying alien a ring that holds the Green Lantern power! With this ring Hal takes on all odds and over comes his fears as the Green Lantern. When the rest of the Green Lantern Corps found out that one of their own was killed, he was then taken to their headquarters where the Guardians of the Universe determines if he should carry on the ring. Sinestro, one of the best Green Lanterns, takes Hal under his wing. But what Hal will find out that some of the Green Lanterns are not what they seem and just one of them could be a betrayer. And one of them wants the yellow power energy that can end all of them and even take over the universe! And only Hal knows what to do.

It has a really simple but a really great thought out plot. Truly when I first read the comics I didn't know how they would bring the Green Lantern to life in a movie on any version. Live-action or even animated. I couldn't see this character in his own story for a movie. But this movie works really well and sets it self apart from any other superhero movie out there. It was truly great to see these characters and this plot to come to life in this film. Not much about Hal at first, but you will get to know him further along the way. It's not much of a origin movie and goes into the action really quickly. And I'm glad they made that move. Sometimes I think we have too much origin movies these days, but it's never a bad thing unless it's handled right.

The voice actors such as Christopher Meloni as Hal Jordan, Victor Garber as Sinestro, Tricia Helfer as Boodikka, Michael Madsen, and the rest are really terrific and very believable in this film. Such great talents for a perfect animated film. I honestly enjoy this movie and I hope the rest of you do too. It's really fantastic and the direction was great too. These guys really know what they are doing with these movies. From Superman Doomsday to Wonder Woman, they are just wonderful talents of storytelling and direction for these characters. I would watch these animated DC Movies any day then watching those Marvel ones. Those ones aren't as good as these ones. This is just really great stuff.

So I give this movie 2-thumbs way, way up! Honestly you will not get bored while watching this. The pace is really fast and feels like a really cool epic Sci-Fi adventure! Just like seeing Star Wars for the first time for an example. Just go pick this up now at a local store near you. It will not be a waste of your time, or unless you have the need to rent it and that's ok. But it was totally worth it. I like watching great movies and this is one of them. Animated or not, you will have fun with this! Now to end this off, here's the coolest line...excuse me, "ode" from the comics and the film:

"In brightest day. In blackest night. No evil shall escape my sight. For those who worship evil's might. Beware my power...Green Lantern's light!"
