I have to admit those 'bloody pirates' let me down this time. POTC3 wasn't terrible as a movie, but I just wasn't impressed. As with the other two high caliber Pirates movies, I had set equally high expectations for the third and final episode. As can happen with series that are around for too long, At World's End assumes that you will appreciate any kind of joke thrown at you. It also contains a very confusing and random plot, with a great deal of action tossed in to distract you from it. Keith Richards was out of place when he tried to play Jack Sparrow's old pirate father. All the other performances were as good as always, so the problems lie within the premises of the film itself. In this episode, Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) have teamed up with the pirate Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush's character from the first Pirates film), who has somehow been brought back to life. Their goal is to save Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from Davy Jones' Locker, where he was taken at the end of the second film. This won't be easy, because the British East India Trading Company now has control of Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) through his heart, which was given to them by Commodore Norrington (Jack Davenport) in the last movie. The free life of piracy is coming to an end, and everyone will be forced to make a stand. Deception and trickery is just as common as in the other films. For example, there seems to be a strange relationship between Tia Dalma (Naomie Harris) and Davy Jones himself. All in all, this movie is so involved that it will become confusing. Nonetheless, it is entertaining and I had a good time. I just want to say that if there is a fourth Pirates movie, I won't be so intent on seeing it.
