The perfect summer flick! If this is the last of the Die Hard films, I can definitely say that they went out with a bang. Quite a few bangs, too.
The main point is, Bruce Willis pulled it off again. This time, he works with computer geek Matt Farrell (Justin Long) to get to the bottom of a breach of national security that threatens to destroy the U.S.
A "firesale" occurs when you hack and completely destroy a country via the computer. This was originally a silly idea thought of as a fun way to mess with the government. However, a brilliant terrorist named Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant) and his girlfriend (Maggie Q) initiate a firesale that threatens to ruin the entire United States!
How does McClane get involved? After being divorced and shunned by his daughter, Lucy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), the once macho McClane has become a bit of a loser. When he is called on to pick up a small-time hacker, everything begins to go downhill when he gets caught in the middle of an assassination. After saving his soon-to-be sidekick, McClane decides it's time to get to the bottom of things. Why are these terrorists trying to kill Farrell and many other hackers like him? Why would they want to destroy the U.S.?
Don't forget, it's still the same old McClane, and he's here to take no prisoners. Watching him save the day hasn't gotten any more boring, and I would say that this film was one of the more enjoyable ones in the series (if not the best!).
Both acting and dialogue are true to the story and very believable, although the fighting can get so crazy that it's a little hard to believe.
What can I say? It's a Die Hard movie. You know what to expect.
