Loved the idea, loved the movie. What's scary is how close to reality the film is, and how this might actually happen. I mean, it's a totally new depiction of the apocalypse, and I believed it completely. The world has collapsed into chaos due to terrorism. In 2007, the world's population became infertile (possibly due to radiation exposure from war and terrorism?). 20 years later, things aren't looking any better, as suicide and fighting has numbed the survivors. While most of the other countries have fallen apart, Britain tries to continue by ordering out all illegal immigrants and maintaining a strict military policy over the remaining residents. Many revolutionary groups have risen up, including a group called the Fishes, which fights for immigrant rights. This is where Theo Faron (Clive Owen) comes in. Living a dull life for the past years, Theo has forgotten what life is all about. This is until he is captured by the Fishes, now run by his former lover Julian Taylor (Julianne Moore). Taylor comes to him because she needs help escorting a pregnant woman (Claire-Hope Ashitey) out of the country, where she can have her baby in a safe place. Surprised by the miracle, Theo agrees to do anything it takes to support this woman. Getting Kee out of the country won't be easy, especially with all sides of the futile war trying to get their hands on the baby. Even the Fishes will turn on Theo to try to use the baby for their own political purposes. With this new hope for humanity will also come a lot of despair and anxiety, as you will soon find out. The acting and dialogue in this movie were perfect; I almost forgot that I was watching a movie! I especially enjoyed the role of Michael Caine playing Theo's hippie father, as well as the role of Chiwetel Ejiofor playing a major Fish rebel. Children of Men was well-planned and well-executed... I loved every second of it! Buy this today!
