The second installment of 28 ___ Later arrived and I myself had pretty high expectations. I found the first to be entertaining, frightening, and enjoyable, and hoped that the sequel would be able to follow in the same vein. While I believe that it could have been a little better, I still enjoyed watching this movie. It takes place, as the title implies, 28 weeks after the rage virus destroyed the people of England. Under the watchful eye of the United States army, a repopulation effort is assumed to revitalize London. Predictably, things don't go quite as they were planned. Tammy (Imogen Poots) and Andy Harris (Mackintosh Muggleton) are two to return to the safe zones of London to meet their father, Don (Robert Carlyle). Soon after their arrival, they decide to leave the safe zone to visit their old suburban home, where amazingly, they find their still-alive mother (Catherine McCormack), who is taken back to London for an examination. It is soon discovered that while she is human, her blood is infected with rage, meaning she is a carrier but does not show symptoms. Don learns his wife is alive, and visits her to apologize for leaving her during the rage pandemic. She accepts with a kiss. Unfortunately, rage is passed through saliva. Let the action begin! The rest of the movie follows in much the same way as the first: creepy zombies, wonderful music, gruesome blood (including the gouging out of eyes), and pretty good acting. Tammy and Andy join forces with a couple of soldiers to try to escape the rage virus and the bombing of London by the army. One thing about the ending: it leaves plenty of room for a third film. It's a good, thrilling movie, don't get me wrong; it just wasn't quite as good as the first.
