Although the original plot of Superman has been slightly altered/modernized, I loved this film! It has amazing acting (for the most part), breathtaking action, and fantastic special effects! I'm not that familiar with the actual Superman comics, but I understand the basics. In this movie, Superman (Brandon Routh), disguised as the awkward Daily Planet newspaper reporter Clark Kent, returns to Earth after going on a five year search for his destroyed planet of Krypton. During this period, the evil Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey) and his posse, including goofy girlfriend Kitty Kowalski (Parker Posey), have learned many secrets about the Man of Steel after visiting his hideout in the arctic. While they were there, Lex also took the crystals containing an endless amount of knowledge from many different planets and civilizations. With these crystals comes extreme power, a force capabable of knocking out all electricity in a huge radius, and that's from a sliver of it! But this isn't Superman's only concern; a lot has changed since he abandoned earth. The love of his life (who actually used to love him as well), is now engaged to a kind man named Richard White, and has a fragile son named Jason (Tristan Lake Leabu). With no one to turn to except his Daily Planet co-worker/friend Jimmy Olsen (Sam Huntington), Superman has only one choice: discover the strange plot, recover his crystals, and save the day! I like that this movie is like a comic: there's no swearing (only 'Holy sh-*camera shift*' sort of lines), no gore (there is a little blood), and awesome action the whole way through. I was expecting a disappointment, but I got the opposite. Superman is lengthy, but worth the time! See this NOW!!!
