Not to be outdone, Dead Man's Chest proves itself a worthy sequel; one of the few Disney hasn't screwed up. The plot isn't as solid, and the setting changes fairly quickly, but the action and laughs also increase. This is more of a family movie than the first, although the bad guys are more scary. Anyways, in this sequel, Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) are about to be married. All plans are postponed, however, when they are both arrested for helping the notorious pirate Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) escape his death sentence. Ironically, now they are sentenced to death, and not even Governor Weatherby Swann (Jonathan Pryce) can do anything about it. Things look up when a shady double agent working for the East India Trading Company, Lord Cutler Beckett, shows up with a proposal: if Will can find a way to bargain for Jack Sparrow's broken compass, Beckett will sign papers to release the three from all charges. Meanwhile, Jack has problems of his own. The cruel Davy Jones (Bill Nighy), captain of the Flying Dutchman, the powerful Kraken, and the sea itself, has come to settle a debt. A long time ago, Jack made a deal with Davy Jones: Jack would become captain of the Black Pearl for thirteen years in exchange for his soul. Those thirteen years have been used up, and Davy Jones is looking for his payment. To see how everything works out; go see this movie right away! Throat cutting is at a peak, and many characters return in this film (besides the ones I already mentioned, including the comedic duo, Pintel (Lee Arenberg) and Ragetti (Mackenzie Crook), the no-longer-Commodore Norrington (Jack Davenport), the undead monkey that everyone loves, the old crew, and a few others that I'd give away the ending by naming. I love this movie; it's funny and exciting! Bloody pirates!
