In short, hilarious, but random. Obviously, I like random humor (well, at least, I don't mind) enough to give this an 8. Easily, this can be placed next to Napoleon Dynamite (PG, 2004) in its comedy (and genius). Jack Black is the perfect choice for the main character, although his Spanish accent can be a little shaky. His Tenacious D and School of Rock experience has allowed him a little singing solo (which was very funny to the audience around me). Black plays the priest, Nacho, at a poor, dirty Mexican orphanage in... well, Mexico. In the beginning of the movie, the hot Sister Encarnación moves in to teach the youngsters. Although Nacho is always stuck on cook duty, he dreams of becoming a luchador. One day, bad luck brings Nacho to meet the homeless Esqueleto (Héctor Jiménez). The pair makes the best of the situation by entering in a wrestling competition for some money. Although the ridiculous duo fails miserably at even hurting their opponents, they make money for being the crowd favorites and the match entertaining (the crowd just loves it when Nacho gets smacked around). As these two extreme amateurs make their way to the bottom, they find themselves losing their honor, a simple, predictable conflict. You'll like to see how this works out, no matter how predictable the finish is. Although this movie is rated PG, there is some wrestling violence, racism, and use of the word 'douche'. Like Napoleon Dynamite, this is a great family movie (besides those few points, that is). Also like Napoleon Dynamite, this is probably a hit or miss movie, and a safe rent. If you like one, I would definitely recommend the other.
