Beautiful. Here's a movie every learned moviegoer should see. With a spectacular blend of fighting and character development, this movie draws you in, and spits you back out with a new respect for Jet Li. The scenery, the music, the acting, the action, all of it was wonderful. Jet Li plays Huo Yuanjia, a Chinese wushu master who wins hope for China in a time of despair. Along with this moment of triumph, we also get to glimpse into his past, and his many moments of weakness. As a young child, Yuanjia always wanted to become a skilled fighter like his father. He was rarely allowed to practice because he had asthma and was too weak anyways. After seeing his father lose to a fighter from the rival Zhao clan, Yuanjia vows to become the greatest fighter in the town of Tianjin, and to prove that the Huo clan's wushu is the best in the world. With great pride comes great consequences, and Yuanjia will learn many lessons. He must become a wiser man, and accept that wushu is not only about winning, but about discipline and helping others. This film is very inspiring, and I really did feel for Yuanjia. For most people, I would only suggest renting this, but if you really care about movies, you're going to have to see it over and over!
