Heartwarming and hilarious, this movie may also be politically incorrect. In my opinion, when you're laughing at someone's antics just because they're mentally challenged, you are probably biased (not that it makes you a bad person or anything). I'm sure at least a few people would agree that if this situation involved stereotypes based on race, gender, or sexual orientation, it wouldn't be tolerated as much. Okay, I'll try not to be a stickler for the rest of the movie; whether or not I was right about that last statement; I enjoyed this movie thoroughly. Now, to the plot! Steve Barker (Johnny Knoxville) is a nice guy; and is getting into huge trouble because of it. A hardworking, immigrant janitor and close friend, Stavi (Luis Avalos) has been fired for making one mistake, and Steve decided to give him a job as a personal lawnmower. The situation turns sour when the clumsy Stavi cuts off his fingers in a freak lawnmower accident (what a jackass, right?). Well, the point is, Stavi, being a foreigner, doesn't have insurance, and needs Steve to pay $28,000 for reconstruction surgery. At the same time, Steve's perverted, selfish Uncle Gary (Brian Cox) has gotten himself into serious problems as his betting problem drives his debt up to the insane. One particular whiner, a surly mobster, has threatened to kill Uncle Gary if he doesn't pay off his $40,000 dollars. Desperate for money, Uncle Gary comes to Steve with a crazy plan; he wants to rig the Special Olympics! Although Steve thinks it's wrong and doesn't want to, the thought of getting the money another way is too much to consider. Pretending to be a mentally challenged boy named Jeffy, Steve enters the Special Olympics, planning to win, but ending up with something a lot better. I guess I can say I enjoyed Katherine Heigl's performance as the female lead, Lynn Sheridan. In conclusion, this was a funny movie with a funny plot. It's a very unlikely scenario, but it's just a movie anyways. Whether or not 'Jeffy likes apples', you should rent this movie!
