Now, for a horror movie, this wasn't very scary. Normally, I can't stand horror films and am unable to sleep after watching them. The Amityville Horror didn't even make me jump once, which is kind of sad, considering they tried so hard. The plot would be creepy, if it isn't too overused. In this version, we meet the Lutz family, George (Ryan Reynolds), Kathy (Melissa George), Billy (Jesse James), Michael (Jimmy Bennett), and Chelsea (Chloe Moretz), as they move into their big, new house in Amityville, New York. George, the stepfather and husband of Kathy, has been very helpful since the real father died, leaving the kids sad and untrusting. Recently, George decided to move the family into a house of their own. Little does the unstable Lutz family know that this house has had a horrible history of killings and torture. In fact, in the past few years, the previous family that owned the house had been murdered by one of the possessed sons, Ronald Defeo. Unaware of the dreadful past, the Lutz's take advantage of the 'incredible offer' and move in. However, history may repeat itself as the unknown 'catch' may kill them all. I did enjoy the small role by Philip Baker Hall as the local priest. I have no complaints about the acting, and the special effects are nice and creepy. Remember, although I say this wasn't scary for me, kids will probably have heart attacks from watching this (there's swearing and violence as well). In conclusion, katch 'em, kill 'em, do whatever you want, but don't go overboard; rent this film.

Hokay, so I know scary films, and this is the scariest of them all. I screamed so loud that I got a sore voice when the movie ended. The film is about a family moving into a demon house that makes the father insane. Go to the bathroom before the movie starts; not cuz you'll pee your pants, but you'll see why...
