Being larger than life can make movies interesting. But this movie was so over the top I couldn't make a connection. It was witty (I guess), with lots of little jokes and sly comments. It was very upbeat and fast-paced; lots of action helped pull this off. This isn't the first Mr. & Mrs. Smith movie, just the first with this plot (just clearing that up; it was unclear to me before). John (Brad Pitt) and Jane Smith (Angelina Jolie) are two assassins working for rival agencies. They were forced together after fleeing the scene of a high profile assassination, and were married to cover their true identities (not knowing the truth about each other). Now, after they foil each others plans to capture a government prisoner, they discover the truth about each other. When their agencies command the couple to kill each other, both obey gladly. But no matter how many guns, knives, grenades, etc. are between them, there just might be something else, something they both never would've expected. There's a funny performance by Vince Vaughn as one of John's friends/co-workers. Otherwise, there aren't many notable performances. Because of some violent sex scenes, regular violence, and swearing, I can see why this is a PG13 movie. People who are looking for some good action and big explosions, this movie is perfectly entertaining in that sense. For anyone else, you have a decision on your hands; make the right one! Rent this, if you have any desire to see it!
