Just Like Heaven is an original romance, one I've never seen the likes of before. Now, you may think that's cool, and it is, but it's also kinda weird and hard to understand. So, Elizabeth Masterson (Reese Witherspoon) is a young doctor whose entire life revolves around her work. She has no social life, no boyfriends, and her only friends are her peers. When Elizabeth is hit by a truck, putting her in a coma, her world is turned upside down. First of all, things begin to go south when David Abbott (Mark Ruffalo) moves into her old apartment and receives disturbing visits from her, saying she wants him to get out of her home and seek psychiatric help. Eventually, David convinces Elizabeth that she must be dead, and when he asks her who she was and other personal information, she honestly tells him that she doesn't know. I found this odd because of the fact that she knew all the details about her home (where things are, where she bought the furniture, etc.) Together, the pair sets out to discover Elizabeth's past and have wild adventures (although they don't know it yet). I liked the performance by Jon Heder, playing the hippie/comedy relief, a bookstore employee named Darryl. Why this is not for kids: there are some sexual themes, including one of the other tenants in David's apartment (Ivana Milicevic) hitting on him, to the point where she takes off her clothes (although the camera is at a 'safe' angle). For a few other reasons as well, I thought this movie was just above average, and worth a rent only.
