This movie is as good as the original movie from way back in the day. I think Johnny Depp did a great job playing Willy Wonka, even though it was a little bit creepy, modeling a character after Michael Jackson. The Oompa Loompas were hilarious, and I definitely enjoyed their singing and dancing, which, I believe, was better than in the original film. The flashbacks were also funny, and the entire movie itself was, although weird and strage, definitely amusing.

I was laughing during the whole course of the movie! I thought everything from the over-the-top acting by Johnny Depp, the crazy secondary characters like Violet Beauregarde (Annasophia Robb) and Augustus Gloop (Philip Wiegratz), and the dance numbers performed by the Oompa-Loompas (Deep Roy) were so ridiculous that they were funny! Something that would have made this movie better, in my opinion, would have been if it followed the books more (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator). The whole part involving how Willy Wonka felt that he never had a loving family was all new. Plus, Willy Wonka (from the very beginning) invites Charlie's whole family to come live with him in the factory, not just Charlie. Oh well, I still thought it was pretty funny!

This is a great movie that is partly based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, by Roald Dahl. I say 'partly' because of the various twists that the book did not include. For example, Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) was not supposed to have any flashbacks about his childhood. In the movie, Willy Wonka's father (Christopher Lee) is a dentist who won't let Willy have any candy, which is why Willy ends up making/selling chocolate and other candy for a living. I loved the Oompa Loompas (all played by Deep Roy), and their songs/dances were crazy. Freddie Highmore does a great job playing Charlie Bucket, but I have to say that Johnny Depp does the best job out of everyone; he's crazy! I thought this movie is funny because it is so goofy and unbelievable. This is a great family movie, although it's a little dark when each child gets 'messed up'.

This movie was scary! Mr. Wonka (Johnny Depp) seemed like he just came out of a straight jacket! But, having read the book (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl) around 21 times, I'd have to say the director (Tim Burton) did a great job of turning the book into a movie; although he twisted it a little, which I approved and (at the same time) disapproved of. I was astounded by how good they made the chocolate room look, and Wonka's joke about cannibilism was hiliarious! The oompa loompas at first look odd, but the man who played them (Deep Roy) made the me like the oompa loompas way more than before. For those who haven't seen this movie yet, see it sometime soon.
