For all the hype, this film wasn't very interesting at all. Without research, I was very confused about how all the events pieced together (yes, I was forced to do research). There was one scary part in the whole film, and it was only because it was so unexpected. Basically, there's a ton of random scares thrown in, and they are neither scary nor interesting. The idea behind this horror film is that people that die with rage leave behind a curse as their 'legacy'. This curse will linger in the place where it was born and consume all that come upon it. In this case, we follow Karen Davis (Sarah Michelle Gellar), a social worker filling in for another social worker (Yoko Maki) who mysteriously disappeared earlier. The sickly woman she must care for has been acting very strangely, talking to herself and thinking that another presence is in the house (which she had just recently moved into). As events unfold, and the grudge claims its victims, it becomes increasingly clear to Karen that there really are spirits in the house, and they aren't very happy with the newcomers. Rent the film to see if Karen can beat the odds and escape the clutches of the evil house. Be warned, there is a lot of gore and suspense, but it doesn't really end up being that scary (as long as you aren't a little kid).
