I'll admit, the first one will remain my favorite always in this series, but I cannot deny how great this movie is. I like how the characters are more developed, and how the plot progressed since the last movie. Heck, I like the fact it was continuing from the last one. The original theatrical version is better than it's 2.1 version (Sorry, it is). So I'll stop saying how good this film was, and let me explain what it is about.

2 years later, Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) is struggling to be the Amazing Spider-Man, and at his job at The Daily Bugle. While having to let go the love of his life Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) to Astronaut John Jameson (Daniel Gillies), son of J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) the chief-and-editor of the Daily Bugle. While trying to steady his life in college, always being late to Dr. Curt Connors (Dylan Baker) class, and flunking on his studies. Aunt May (Rosemary Harris) and Peter's friends throw him a surprise birthday party at the old house he used to live in at Forest Hills. While there Peter sees that his aunt is also flunking on a few things; the house bills, her bank account, and still weeping over the lost of Ben Parker (Cliff Robertson). Harry Osborn, Peter's one and only true best friend, is now head owner of Oscorp Industries working with the famous Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina). Harry still lusting for revenge on Spider-Man, finds out later that ol' web-head is more than our heroic figure saving the day. One day, Otto demonstrates the fusion reactor with four mechanical arms, trying to stablize it for good energy. The machine suddenly became critical to control, this leading to the destruction of his lab and the death of his wife, Rosie (Donna Murphy). Spider-Man comes in to save the day, or at least tries to. Ever since Otto blames Spidey for the death of his wife. Soon after, he the explosion in the lab fused the inhibitor chip for him to control the arms; Now the arms control him. From then on he continues his research to undo the mistake that he made and along the way to destroy Spider-Man for what he done to Rosie, seemingly because he blames him for the death of his wife, for not saving her first. At the meantime, Peter lose focus on his powers, and lost self confidence. He thought he lost his powers for good, and when he found out he decides to get back with Mary Jane again. Now when the city needs him the most, Peter is unable to help. But when the love of his life is in danger, his powers came back and he sprung into action once more to save her and the city itself. Peter's life is on the balance, and he's going to make the choice that none other would do. "Sometimes you have to give the things you want the most, even your dreams." -May Parker

Long summary, but it was worth it. Anyways, on with the review. I like the special effects in this movie, and the acting, and the way the direction the plot was heading in. The ending was the most frustrating thing ever. But I am not going to spoil it for those who hadn't seen it yet. And if you had, I am still not going to say it. It was a great movie, I wish that the third one could've done a lot better, and with less, less humor too. I love Spider-Man, I like this series, and I'll always be a fan. Thank you Sam Raimi for making this movie, and thank you all for reading my review.

My "Spider-Man 2.1" Review - 25 January 2009

overall: 9

Pretty much all I can say is that this extended cut of "Spider-Man 2" is pretty much almost better than it's original cut. The added-in action scenes were great, and the extra scenes with characters and dialogue were great too. But there was only two parts I hated in the movie. The extended long version of Spidey in the elevator with Hal Sparks (Yawn!), and J. Jonah Jameson alone in his office, with the blinds closed (With his employees looking through the window), him jumping on top of the desk wearing the Spider-Man suit (Ridiculous, although kind of funny). And another thing, the whole "Raindrops Keep On Falling on My Head" song montage was a bit more different, I say they should've kept it the same way it was originally. I have no problem with that scene, except for the change in this edition. Everything else was perfect, and I wish they were all in the original cut. But as you know, they have to cut few things out in order to get it done in time for it's theatrical release back in 2004. I love this extended edition, I just wish those things I mentioned, that I didn't like, were cut out. But all in all, it was good. A must see for Spidey fans, and whoever likes the original "Spider-Man 2" movie. Hopefully they come out with extended cut of "Spider-Man 3", that movie needed it the most (I heard a lot of good scenes were cut out, if they weren't in the first place fans would probably like Spidey 3 better). Anyways, Spider-Fans, stay strong, and EXCELSIOR!
