Okay, I will start by saying that this was about as good as the first, but in a different way. By different, I mean that there was a lot less action, more plot, and more explanations. The style changes too; I noticed that there is more of a Western theme instead of the East Asia one set down before. I mean, this isn't a bad thing; it's just different. We don't see nearly as much martial arts, so I was disappointed. In spite of this, I really enjoyed the development of the characters and plot, something the first movie didn't do nearly as much. In the end-cap on the brilliant couple, the Bride (Uma Thurman), now also known as Beatrix Kiddo, is ready to finish the job and get revenge on the people that ruined her life. Betrayed by her former team, the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, Kiddo woke up after a four year coma, and was dying for revenge. After taking out two members, O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu) and Vernita Green (Vivica A. Fox), Kiddo has become more focused than ever. So, we follow her now as she attempts to finish off Bill (David Carradine), his brother Budd (Michael Madsen), and Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah). Also, we learn about her past, the story before she was put into that horrible coma. Expect plot twists! I really enjoyed the performance by Gordon Liu as the secluded martial arts master Pai Mei; master of the infamous (and equally outrageous) Five-Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique. His character was too funny for words. In any case, this movie was about as funny as the first, but for different reasons. The first had more violence, but the second had more story line. Personally, I kinda liked the first better, but I know people who would say the opposite. In conclusion, buy this movie; you're going to want to see it again!
