Guillermo del Toro (Director of Blade II) directs the Dark Horse comics into this fantasy adventure of a demon-like creature named Hellboy, along with the B.P.R.D. (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense). "In the absence of light, darkness prevails. There are things that go bump in the night, Agent Myers. Make no mistake about that. And we are the ones who bump back." -Prof. Broom, played by John Hurt
Starring Ron Perlman as the title character Hellboy, Doug Jones as Abe Sapien, and Selma Blair as Liz Sherman. What a great cast for a fantastic movie. To tell you the truth, I am not too familiar with the comics, but when I heard the movie was based off from a comic book series, I know I had to see it. After all I like these kind of movies. Well some.
Anyways, I like the plot in this movie as well. It was very interesting and different, and the hero of the story was very intriguing as well. The characters were well written and had very realistic personalites. The villains were nicely done as well. Very evil and scary at moments. The direction in it was nice, and I like the fact that Mike Mignola (Creator of Hellboy) and Del Toro worked together on this film. Though Del Toro completely made the characters his own, which is very different then what other directors would do sometimes. Maybe that's why it turned out so well.
So over all, I like this movie. And I hope to see more of Del Toro's work.
