I'm not sure how to describe this movie. It's very stylized, funny, and strange. There's a mysterious plot, full of things to be explained in the future. All of the characters are way larger than life, and the action is ridiculously fake. However, I am led to believe that all of this is intended, making this into more of a comedy than expected. In other words, I laughed the whole way through. So, basically, this movie is about 'the Bride' (Uma Thurman). I know, it's a strange name, but that's what she's called. The Bride, codenamed Black Mamba, was once a part of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, a top-notch team of ruthless killers working for a dangerous man named Bill (David Carradine). Although we know she had something to do with the squad, she has since retired to pursue her own personal life. Her jealous team betrayed her, attempting to massacre everyone. They would've succeeded, except for one obvious mistake; the pregnant Bride survived. Stuck in a coma for four years, the Bride wakes in a hospital, seething with hate. Now, the crazed, childless woman is going to get her revenge; and she is going to kill Bill! In this movie, she begins the long rampage with O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu) and her men (including Gordon Liu and Chiaki Kuriyama, who play two officials), the Japanese mob leader, and Vernita Green (Vivica A. Fox). I enjoyed the feel to the whole movie, and Sonny Chiba's performance as the samurai sword master Hattori Hanzo was a nice addition. This movie resembles a twisted old tale of heroism and revenge, and I loved the whole thing! You should go out and buy this one; you'll want to see it again (whether it's because you didn't quite understand the first time, or because you couldn't get enough)!
