This movie was pretty similar to the 1992 movie, The Last of the Mohicans (R, 1992). The setting of this movie is during the American Revolution (only about 10-20 years later). Also, there is almost as much violence and sadness as The Last of the Mohicans. Personally, I prefer The Last of the Mohicans to this, but both movies are worth seeing. The plots in both movies are interesting, and keep you excited enough to sit through each of the long dialogue scenes, which are followed by more action. For you action fans, The Last of the Mohicans is more violent and bloody, and things (like bloody hearts) are ripped out of chests. This movie is very bloody, but way more clean when it comes to those yummy guts we all love. The plot of this movie is about the former British patriot, Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson), who is haunted by his violent past. Now, he can't escape that past, as everyone expects him be a war hero fighting the British. His sons, Gabriel and Thomas (Heath Ledger and Gregory Thomas), are the main reasons that he actually fights. When a cruel Dragoon commander, Colonel William Tavington (Jason Isaacs), kills Thomas and many other civilians, it's time to get revenge. This is a good movie, although there is just a little too much talking for me.
