M:I-2 is so much better than the first episode, but it's beginning to take the shape of a James Bond film (and no one likes a rip-off). As this movie was directed by John Woo, there are many artistic scenes, sexual scenes, and scenes shot in slow-motion for effect. All that is acceptable, but not at all like the first one. In this movie, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is about to go for another wild ride. A foreign man named Dr. Nekhorvich (Rade Serbedzija) and his partner have developed an extremely deadly flu virus named Chimera, and it has been stolen by terrorists. There is convincing evidence proving that a former IMF (Impossible Mission Force) agent named Sean Ambrose (Dougray Scott) is behind the robbery, and someone will need to steal the final evidence and whereabouts of the virus. To take advantage of Ambrose, Ethan is to make Ambrose's ex-girlfriend, Nyah Nordoff-Hall (Thandie Newton), gain Ambrose's trust and steal/copy any significant documents/samples. Unfortunately, in getting to know Nyah, Ethan 'accidentally' falls in love, complicating everything. Ethan will also need cooperation from the pharmacist, John C. McCloy (Brendan Gleeson), who owns the cure to the virus (named Bellerophon) and is probably going to be unwilling to give it out. To ease Ethan's problems, the computer whiz, Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames is back again to do some serious hacking. Will Nyah be able to trick Ambrose and his clever assistant, Hugh Stamp (Richard Roxburgh)? Will Ethan be able to save the day? Eh, you should probably buy this one. You should definitely keep this one away from kids because of violence, sex, and swearing. Ethan, what you don't seem to understand is that this movie is called Mission: Impossible! It's amazing what difference filming a movie four years later will have on the final product (in a good way)!
