'Saving Private Ryan' was an incredibly great, but sad movie. It talks about hardships, friendships, and losses that soldiers must fight through for their country in World War II. Starring Tom Hanks, this movie was thought to be worthless by some, and others anticipated that this movie would be worth their time. And boy, were they right! 'Saving Private Ryan' was tremendously popular when it first came out, and nowadays you can still come across this movie on the 'American Channel' (AMC), 'Lifetime', or even the 'Hallmark' channel.

Loved every second of it. Great acting and powerful words.

This is a great movie, one of the best ones made recently about World War II. It was one of the first to show what war was really like. It gave the movie more of a realistic setting, because no matter how much you want to believe that these were just fake battle scenes, you have to remember that it actually happened not long ago. There are a couple of funny parts, though. This is a must-see for everyone, so go out and see it if you have not yet already.

All I heard about this movie was that there were many people killed during the filming of it, which gives me doubt about the director's decisions on it.

In my opinion, this action/drama film based in World War II is almost too violent (although realistic). I mean, there's so much blood, gore, and death that it almost seems impossible that something like that really happened. When the movie began with the D-Day assault on Normandy, I was shocked by all of the intense violence. It seemed too realistic to be real, if that makes any sense to you. Anyways, the plot of the film is fairly simple; three brothers out of four in the Ryan family were killed in combat. To avoid a family crisis (the last brother being killed too), the War Department sends a team of soldiers (Edward Burns, Jeremy Davies, Vin Diesel, Adam Goldberg, Barry Pepper, Giovanni Ribisi, and Tom Sizenore) led by Captain John H. Miller (Tom Hanks) to find Private James Ryan (Matt Damon) and bring him home safely. And, by the way, no, Matt Damon does not have a big role in this film. Instead, Tom Hanks gets the glory of being the hero. I love this movie, but it's depressing and definitely not for kids.
