In my opinion, this action/drama film based in World War II is almost too violent (although realistic). I mean, there's so much blood, gore, and death that it almost seems impossible that something like that really happened. When the movie began with the D-Day assault on Normandy, I was shocked by all of the intense violence. It seemed too realistic to be real, if that makes any sense to you. Anyways, the plot of the film is fairly simple; three brothers out of four in the Ryan family were killed in combat. To avoid a family crisis (the last brother being killed too), the War Department sends a team of soldiers (Edward Burns, Jeremy Davies, Vin Diesel, Adam Goldberg, Barry Pepper, Giovanni Ribisi, and Tom Sizenore) led by Captain John H. Miller (Tom Hanks) to find Private James Ryan (Matt Damon) and bring him home safely. And, by the way, no, Matt Damon does not have a big role in this film. Instead, Tom Hanks gets the glory of being the hero. I love this movie, but it's depressing and definitely not for kids.
