This movie is absolutely my favorite. It's one of those movies where you say, "Genius! I wish I thought of that!" This movie was brilliently funny, and such a fun movie to watch. Jim Carrey was just made for the role, and he does bring the character of Stanley Ipkiss alive. Just a short note, not many of you people know that this was originally a comic book that ran through 1992 to 1997. With different titles such as The Mask Returns, The Mask Strikes Back, Joker/Mask and The Adventures of The Mask. Originally The Mask was depicted as a serial killer who goes on a killing streak of revenge, going after for the people who done him wrong. He wasn't very heroic at the beginning, but ever since the movie, Dark Horse (The comic book publisher) changed the character from a villain to a hero. But the movie didn't do a bad job at adapting this amazing series, when originally it was suppose to be a horror flick that would replace the Nightmare on Elm Street series. But the director, who originally helped on the third Nightmare movie, decides that the movie would do better if it was an off-beat comedy. And he was right, it did work for the movie. But in 2005, the sequel "Son of the Mask" came out. Yuck! Just me saying that makes me want to barf of how ridiculously this movie was made. It didn't follow the same concept, and was a complete mess up. If I had to choose on which one is my favorite, it would have to be The Mask. 'Cause no one can beat the first, I tell you.
