Michael Keaton is back as the caped crusader, along with visionary director Tim Burton, to bring you Batman Returns. Also starring Danny DeVito, Christopher Walken, and Michelle Pfeiffer.
First of all, I have no problem with Tim Burton, I like some of his work. I just think he does better with fantasy movies, and less superheroish ones too. Although I don't consider Batman a superhero, he's just a regular man in a suit that knows how to fight well. But he's in that category, and I just think Tim Burton wasn't right for this type of film. I do like the tone of the story though, very dark and intriguing. The concept was brought to life, like I never seen before. But there was a little problem. I kept thinking Copplepot's, a.k.a. The Penguin, plot has no real motives. So what you were cast out as a baby in the river? Yeah, that would be wrong for your parents to do in the first place, but that's not what the Penguin was all about. Threatening to kill the children of Gotham, becoming mayor, who's idea is this anyways? And how did his henchmen managed to get all the kids in Gotham in one night? And what's with the henchmen too? And what's with Batman killing them as well...? That's not Batman! He doesn't kill people! Oh sure, he did when they first started the comics, but at that time in the 80s and 90s ever since the 70s, Batman fights with honor and puts fear into his enemies, not killing them. Jeez.
And Catwoman. Ehh...I would say just leave her dead in that alley. She was terrible, but the actor wasn't bad for the role. Heck, Danny and Michelle are the only convincing roles in this movie. And what's with Christopher Walken's hair? Jeez, this movie could've done a lot better. For fans, if you like this movie that's your opinion, but for me this isn't the right Batman movie. It was too corny and the plot wasn't well thought out (I mean c'mon, the Penguin in that kiddy ride controlling the Batmobile? Ridiculous.). Sorry, it's just what I think about it. Don't like it, then tough. If no one has seen this movie yet, please don't be discouraged to view this film because of my review. It's a good watch for some people, so enjoy it while you can.
