Mel Brooks is a genius! The characters he created have hilarious names, lines, and personalities. I thought that Rick Moranis did an especially great job playing Lord Dark Helmet. As a parody of Star Wars, this movie begins with Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) being forced to marry the last prince in the galaxy, Prince Valium (Jim J. Bullock). She runs away from the wedding with her faithful she-robot, Dot Matrix (Lorene Yarnell), and is captured by Spaceballs, a ruthless race of people that used up all the breathable air on their planet. Desperate, the king of the planet, King Roland (Dick Van Patten) calls on the bounty hunter Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) and his assistant, 'Barf' the mog [man-dog] (John Candy) to try to save the princess. The leader of planet Spaceballs, President Skroob (Mel Brooks), will do anything it takes to steal the oxygen from Druidia (King Roland's planet). Will Lone Starr be able to protect the princess from the clutches of the evil Lord Dark Helmet? To find out, rent this movie. One last thing: this movie has a lot of swearing and some sexuality, so younger kids should stay away (or be kept away by force, seeing as they'll love this movie if they see it). May the schwartz be with you!
