This is a really good animated movie and much better then the live-action movies we have of the Transformers now. This movie is really thought out well, and the plot was very well done. I like how Hot Rod takes up the mentle after the passing of Optimus Prime. Basically Prime dies at the beginning (at the hands of Megatron), and he passes on the Matrix, which would "light their darkest hour" and only the chosen one can use it. Which turns out to be Hod Rod, who later on becomes Rodimus Prime, when he grabbed the Matrix from Optimus. Yes, the Matrix. And this movie was made way before The Matrix movies were made, so it's not ripping off from it. Now in this movie has this planet-sized Transformer called Unicron, known as "the chaos bringer", and he's out to take over the galaxy, along with his accomplice from Megatron who later becomes known as Galvatron (Unicron remodels him later that's why). At the end, "One shall stand, and one shall fall" when Hot Rod and Galvatron fight over the power of the Matrix!
The music in this film are very entertainable, although they're very Classic Rock-ish, but I like those kind of music too. And the animation at it's time was very astonishing and breath-taking. It shows every emotion and feel of the movie. The voice-actors are phenomenal in their roles. Such as Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, Judd Nelson as Hot Rod, Orson Welles as Unicron, Susan Blu as Arcee, Frank Welker as Megatron, Leonard Nimoy as Galvatron, Robert Stack as Ultra Magnus, and many others. I'm so glad that I have this movie on th 20th Anniversay Special Edition on DVD. So I can watch all the features and the movie over and over again for a long time. It's really fun to watch, and it's a must-see for all Transformers fans and for those who never really knew what Transformers was about at first or never know Transformers at all. Well here it is, I recommend this to everyone!
