Dr. Seuss is incredible! How the Grinch Stole Christmas is imaginative, creative, and very stylized. It's a great book, and an equally great movie. Yes, this is the cartoon version, as you can tell by the date it was made. The Grinch (voiced by Boris Karloff) is a strange being who lives away from civilization with his dog, Max. He likes it this way, partly because his heart is "three sizes too small." In this story, the Grinch decides to cause some mischief. That is, he decides to ruin Christmas for the Whos, the strange little people who live nearby his secluded mountain. In order to ruin Christmas, the Grinch plans to break into their houses and steal all of their presents and decorations. However, the Grinch's plan backfires, and he actually learns the true meaning of Christmas, which isn't as materialized as he thought. This movie is very inspiring and is great for all ages. You should probably buy this movie because it never gets old. I say probably because it always airs on TV at least once a year, so if you're a TV junkie, you're all set anyways.
