Although this movie was very well done and touching, it just wasn't my type. Nothing blows up. No one dies. Nope, this movie is more about character and plot development. The Quiet Man is set in Ireland during the early-to-mid 1900s. A young, peace-loving, quiet man from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by the name of Sean Thornton (John Wayne) has returned to his birthplace in Ireland after having troubles in America (problems that will be explained later in the movie). This heart-warming film is about his life in the small countryside, where everyone knows each other. Sean falls in love with Mary Kate Danaher (Maureen O'Hara), a red-head with fiery temper and makes friends with virtually the entire town! His one enemy, Will Danaher (Victor McLaglen), Mary's brother, is really going to cause trouble for Sean, and for some reason, Sean won't fight him. Is there more to Sean, or is he a coward? See this movie and find out! I loved the performance by Barry Fitzgerald, who plays the funny old whisky-loving man, Michaleen Flynn. This movie is very funny, but not necessarily a comedy. Definitely see this movie, but it's kind of long and romantic (just letting you know).
