This is Irish Monkey's game, so he should be writing a review, but I play it every once in while, and each time I am pleasantly surprised. With great graphics, superb sounds and voice acting, and very fun battles, the game should be enjoyed by any fan of first-person shooters. I won't be able to relate it to Quake II, because I have never played it, but in this game you take control of a marine named Kane; your Rhino Squad is ordered to land on the Strogg (the enemy aliens) homeworld, but your spacecraft is shot down. You work throughout the game fighting Stroggs with allied marines, which are amazingly intelligent. Another plus side is there are medics to heal you and technicians to repair your body armor. As I already said, the graphics of the game are great, as you can see everything in very high detail. The reason my rating isn't higher is that sometimes the levels come to a stall when you have to find your way around, and that can get boring after a while. Don't let that stop you, though; I'd recommend at least renting it, and if you like the Quake series, buy it.

This is my game. The game starts out when the Macron (head of the Strogg) has been killed by a lone marine (this comes from the plot of Quake II). Your squad, Rhino, has been shipped out to destroy the weakened Strogg planet. Your ship is shot down, and you need to regroup with your teammates and do whatever the military needs you to do. The Campaign gameplay is quite fun; many kinds of Strogg to keep you on your feet, and different weapons to spice things up. My only complaints are: the gameplay can get repetitive, there's the same mindless killing, almost every room is dark, and the Strogg aren't the smartest of people (they tend to run straight at the barrel of your shotgun). I haven't really done much of the multiplayer mode, but from watching SilkyBob and his friend, it looks like Halo 2. I'd recommend this game to first-person shooter lovers, but you might want to rent it first.
