The story behind Kameo is like many stories. Kameo is the daughter of King Solon and Queen Theena, and has inherited the Elements of Power, 10 elemental creatures. While there are usually the original four elements, Water, Air, Fire, and Earth, in this game there are 5 elements: Water, Ice, Fire, Grass, and Rock. Each element has two creatures; for Water, Deep Blue and Flex; for Ice, Chilla and 40 Below; for Fire, Ash and Thermite; for Grass, Pummel Weed and Snare; and for Rock, Major Ruin and Rubble. The story starts out when Kameo's envious older sister Kalus, who was set to become the heir to all the elements, betrays the elves by releasing the imprisoned Troll King, Thorn. Kalus then kidnaps Kameo's Uncle Yeros, Uncle Halis, Queen and Mother Theena, and Aunt Lenya. Kameo tries to take on Thorn with just three Elemental Heroes, but fails and loses them to Thorn's Shadow Trolls. Kameo is returned home via teleportation and given a special book to contain the Elemental Heroes. The book also contains a wise wizard who gives advice when needed (listen to him.) From then on, you have to capture Elemental Heroes and save your imprisoned ancestors by defeating bosses. The last boss, being Thorn himself, is a toughy. Overall, this game was good, but some things didn't make sense in the story line. I thought the controls were great and made for cool combos, but the action could have been better. Still, here's an amazing game by Rare.
