This is a great game! Campaign is fun and all... Yet, there is a gap about online play. I can't exactly say what it is. I cant put my finger on it exactly.
Okay. Overall, I give it an 9. You get great fun from blowing you and your friends apart with futuristic weapons, graphics are great, the sun can be seen in the face mask of the Master Chief character, and finally, plot is great, the only part I would change is the near the ending. The flood should be more ominous. So, overall 9, I recommend this game.

EDIT: The forge and infection game variants are amazing. A must try.

Halo 3 redefines everything about video games. It combines the best parts of Halo: Combat Evolved (M) and Halo 2 (the campaign and multiplayer aspects, respectively) and creates the perfect gaming experience. There are also many new features and improvements that easily make this one of the best first person shooters ever.

When I started out, I found the single player campaign to have the perfect difficulty curve. It took me six hours to beat the game on normal the first time! After doing this, I went back and found that the average time it takes to beat the campaign from start to finish takes approximately 4-7 hours to beat, depending on the difficulty level you play it on. The story is relatively dry and the action is fairly repetitive, but you have so much fun playing it that you don't even realize how much time you just spent playing. On the co-op campaign (which can now be played with up to four players over Xbox Live!), there are many new features that allow you to achieve the ultimate gaming experience. First, because of the new online co-op feature, there are now scoring modes where you compete with your friends to get the most points during the game by killing the most people and having the best style.

For the first time in Halo history, there are now 49 Xbox 360 Achievements which range from easy to acquire to extremely hard to find. The skulls are back; and this time they can help out your campaign score by making the enemies harder, but giving you a score multiplier based on how many skulls you have 'turned on' (yes, you can now turn them on and off!). The skulls also affect your multiplayer experience.

Another first in the Halo trilogy is the customization of your armor, and I don't mean choosing between a Spartan or Elite. You can now choose between up to ten different armor types for everything from your helmet to your shoulder pad, and each different armor piece has its own advantages. Most of these different pieces will be locked until you find a certain amount of skulls or get various Xbox Achievements. These armor arrangements are very handy in multiplayer, when you're trying to get every opportunity you can to bash the next guy's head in.

The gameplay is basically the same as it ever was in Halo, although with the black and white controller buttons gone, there have been a few modifications. Some particularly important changes to fighting include lowering your shield amount, changing amount of grenades you can carry (you can now only hold two of each, but there are four different types of grenades to make up for it), and balancing weapon firing time and the power per shot. While I'm on the topic of weapons, I'd like to say that now there is a plethora of new weapons (and vehicles), and they all balance in the perfect rock-paper-scissors way. Whereas I hated the Assault Rifle in Halo 1, I find myself constantly using it to hose down close quarters combatants now. In fact, I believe it is my number one source of kills.

How do I know that? Check my bungie.net profile, it contains every obscure bit of information about me now. With upgraded servers, Bungie has now topped off the online stats from Halo 2 so that now you can even see your kills to deaths ratio for something as specific as the Team Slayer matchmaking mode on a certain map. It saves everything about everything, and I can even see all of the screenshots I've ever taken.

Screenshots, you ask? With a new "theater" mode, you can now watch replays of your 25 most recent games and save clips and screenshots, not to mention the entire game itself. A cool new camera system allows you to zoom around the map and watch the fights from every angle, or just watch it from your opponent's point of view to see exactly how he just sniped you from across the map. My complaint about this is that there is no good way to fast forward, and all the movies you take are saved as game data so that you can't download it to your computer.

While I'm on the topic of the new modes, I will mention the awesome "forge" mode. Now, instead of choosing which weapons can be found on a map, you can actually place them on the map too! And that's not all you can place... you can set spawning spots for players, vehicle spawns, etc., and you can even set the respawn rate for all of these items. The best part about this is that all of this editing can be done in the game, which means you can drop a tank on an enemy or just pick it up and use it to block the bullets of someone who's shooting at you.

Another cool mode is the "infection" variant in Custom Games, which is basically just an official version of the "zombie" game variant in Halo 2.

All of these things and more add up to make Halo 3 a hands down buy for the Xbox 360. If I didn't already have an Xbox 360, I'd buy one just to play Halo 3. I can already tell that people will be playing this for much longer than they did with Halo 2, and even when people do get bored of it, it will still be an amazing game to call your own. Buy it as soon as possible, because you don't want to miss out on this!
