This game was my first rock game, and it was great! The characters and different locations really add to the experience! Plus, one of the characters depends on your version (The Wii version has Elroy Budvis, and I think the PS2 versio  has the Grim Reaper). The only downfalls are that the Wii Guitar "controller" is really an accessory for the Wiimote, the drumer physics are terrible, and the Wifi sometimes freezes when searching for opponents. Also, I would have preferred the "3D" HUD to GH3's 2D Meters and Counters. The song selection is great, and the selection has given me ideas for songs I would like to buy and encouraged me to want an iPod. All in all, the game is terrific. I am glad with my purchase!

GH3 is a great game. It's definitely the best music series out there right now. A great game for all Rock Lovers and actually is a great thing to use to get someone interested in Rock Music. With the GH:World Tour game coming soon, it's getting popular!

Guitar Hero III has just about everything I wanted out of Guitar Hero II, but I feel that it has failed to make the game as fun as I had hoped it to be.

Upon playing the single player Career mode for the first time, I was surprised to find that the set list was relatively easy, and I could get mostly five stars all the way through on expert. However, upon reaching the last set of songs, the difficulty curve suddenly jumped so that I felt like I was playing Jordan all over again. When I went down a difficulty level and played on hard, I still failed "Raining Blood" by Slayer several times before I beat it. Then came the boss battle, which could easily pass as an expert level if Guitar Hero III as a whole wasn't so freakin' impossible (but I surprisingly beat it on the first try). In that basic summary, do you see a difficulty curve? If you ask me, there is no difficulty curve. In fact, it's more like a horizontal line followed by a vertical line instead of a "curve". The early songs were too easy, and the final songs were too hard! Seriously, that's not very fun, especially when I have to choose between being bored on medium or struggling over and over on hard &emdash; especially when finishing expert was within my ability range for the other Guitar Hero games.

The achievements are ridiculous, ranging from feats like beating the game on hard or expert while using a controller (which is too hard simply because human hands can not press the buttons that fast), to getting 20 perfect songs on expert, to beating one of the Guitar Hero III designers over Xbox Live (which I am proud to say that I have done). I honestly don't see myself getting more than 400 or 500 Gamerscore out of this, which is pretty pathetic.

The songs are interesting, but I don't think anything can beat the set list that Guitar Hero II gave us.

There are two separate career modes now; one for single player and one for coop. What's cool about this is that there are two completely different song lists, with certain songs that can be played in one career and can't be played in the other (including the already classic song "Suck My Kiss" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys).

It's also funny because the story lines for single player and coop are completely different, although you still end up playing at the same stages. Instead of getting a new letter and short cutscreen, there are now cartoon shorts between each set of songs.

The new part of the career mode that I hate is the Battle Mode. This is a brand new game type where two players play a song against each other. Instead of star power, there are now special attacks you can pick up to throw at your enemy. You can change their difficulty, break their string, or unleash other mean attacks in an attempt to simply make them fail before you do. I don't like that this has been added to the single player mode, because the computers are very smart and never miss a note (without having an attack enabled) no matter what difficulty the player is on. The new mode is decent in the new multiplayer, however.

In summation, I would say that this game is entertaining, but lacks the addictive qualities of the older Guitar Hero games. If you already have a guitar controller from the older games, go ahead and buy this one, it is worth your money. If this is your first Guitar Hero game, get the second one first.
