Grand Theft Auto Four is definitely one of the Top Ten games out there. I own it for Xbox 360, and I have to say it is probably my favorite game out of all of them.
You Play as Niko Bellic, a Russian Immigrant who moves to America to escape the troubles of his past. Once you Arrive in Liberty City, you meet your cousin Roman Bellic, who has been writing you letters of how great he is doing in America. He tells you of money, fame, mansions, cars, and women. Unfortunately, you find America isn't exactly what you thought it was.
You find that the Mansion your cousin was telling you about is an apartment, and the fame is only a small taxi company. Trying to work your way up, you encounter many problems. It starts off small, like Roman's boss always giving you problems. It escalates to murder, robbery, drug trafficking, FBI threats, and National Security problems. Soon you are a full fledged criminal, doing things you used to promised never to do again.
I'm not going to ruin the plot for you, but let me tell you it never gets old. Some missions are as simple as following someone, and others are as complicated as destroying an entire complex and killing everyone inside. The main storyline is sure to keep you playing for hours, somewhere along 70 hours of gameplay sounds correct. There are also a hundred hours of side missions that you can do, from helping out homicidal husbands to driving junkies around town. These are always fun, and a nice way to earn some extra cash.
New to GTA IV are friends. When you meet someone new, they are stored in your phonebook and will call you occasionally to drive to a strip club or head to a bar to play darts. You don't have to engage with these people, but doing so will give you some nice rewards. Some friends will give you free chopper rides, and others will send you a car full of weapons. Choosing to stay friends or ignore them won't effect the main storyline in any way, just decide whether or not you can access these friends' bonuses.
And of course a hugely successful part of the GTA Franchise is the free roaming. Endless hours of driving around the Massive, four-island Liberty City, engaging in Police Pursuits and Robbing Stores, Stealing Cars, Fighting Gang Members, Performing Police Missions, and just having a good time is what makes Grand Theft Auto so special. You'll never get bored of climbing a twenty-story building with a sniper, and daring the police to come get you by firing shots into their cruisers. Free roam supplies Gamers with endless hours of fun.
And Also New to GTA IV is online. I always knew GTA as a single-player game, so I wasn't expecting much from the online section. Boy was I wrong! Grand theft auto IV has hugely amazing online gameplay, far better than I ever would have expected. You can play in a party with friends, doing gametypes such as Free For All Deathmatch, team Deathmatch, Territories, or my favorite, Cops N Crooks. And of course online free-roam.
Communication Online is great too! No longer do you have to open up the Xbox Blades to invite a friend, or send them a private chat invite. You can work it all from your cell phone! Click 'Address Book' to display a list of all players in-game. Just click their name and hit 'Call' to private chat. Their cell phone will ring and 'incoming call' will pop up. A thing I find personally cool is that nearby players will hear a cellphone ringing from that person's area. Makes Mob Meetings that much scarier :D
So overall, this game provides endless hours of fun and entertainment for all types of Gamers. I highly recommend adding it to your gaming arsenal!
