You should never judge a book by its cover, whether it be good or bad. Though its graphics appear glossy, various flaws in gameplay, graphics, and commentary make this version of FIFA undesirable. First off, the team selection: in the 360 version, there are only six leagues available! Also, many international teams, including the Netherlands and Japan, are missing. Second, the new (in 2007, at least) physics engine leaves a lot to be desired. For example, when two players collide, they bounce right off each other and momentarily freeze. Now, I don't watch a lot of soccer, but I have never once seen this occur in real life. Also, when going for loose balls, the player is often "locked" in a particular path, making it difficult to improvise if the other team gets the ball first. The commentary, while good at times (for example, when one commentator realizes he made a mistake), often fails to see the big picture. It is inconsistent in stating such simple facts as which team is winning!
There, I've gotten my complaints out of my system. If you can get by all this, 07 can actually be a pretty fun game, especially if you are, like me, a big fan of soccer games. Manager mode is fun, it is somewhat akin to franchise mode in the Madden series. Online, the game glitches pretty often, so it can be hard to set up a stable game. Overall, the vast number of flaws present do not make this game worth buying. Unless you are a die-hard FIFA fan, skip it and go with the 08 or 09 version.
