Tekken: Dark Resurrection is an updated version of Tekken 5, released for the PSP. It adds new characters into the mix, and was one of the first games to show off the capabilities of the system.
This game is graphically AMAZING. Even for the PSP, the cutscenes/in-game graphics look absolutely incredible. I really can't believe how good they are. The game looks better than most PS2 games I've played. There's so much detail in the characters, it's mind blowing. Tekken: Dark Resurrection adds a few new features from Tekken 5. New characters have been added, Dragunov and Lili, and there's a few minor updates to the Arcade mode. Nothing too major, but Dragunov's a decent fighter. New characters are new characters, I guess... my favorite fighter's still Craig Marduk though. Plus, according to Wikipedia he's from Australia. Epic!
The game was ported to the PS3 about 6 months later, because people were complaining about it only being on the PSP and Arcade. So Namco decided to release it on the PS3 as Downloadable Content for about $20. Which to me seems really cheap, considering I bought this game for $30.
Since Tekken is such a popular franchise, it was a pretty smart move for Namco to make a version for the PSP. It payed off, the game sold over 1 million copies, making the game a big commercial success.
The AI in Dark Resurrection is really smart. If you keep on trying a particular move on them, they'll wise up and start blocking it, making you change your tactics. The AI also does huge, (but cheap) combos on you. Like one time I was on the Final Stage against Jinpachi, and he beat the hell out of me, I didn't stand a chance. He kept running at me, and he always dodged my kicks, luckily the game has infinite continues.... *sigh* I'm so bad at fighting games.
BUY OR NOT TO BUY: Definitely a must-own game for the PSP, especially for fighting game fans.
