Killzone: Liberation is a sequel to the PS2 game, Killzone. Story-wise, the game is set between Killzone, and Killzone 2, so you should think of the game as Killzone 1.5. Sorta...
The gameplay's completely different to Killzone on the PS2. It's more of an Isometric Shooter. You see the whole character, and all of their surroundings, to get a full view of what's going on around you. Since it's hard to explain, I'll post a link to a screenshot, to give you an idea of what it looks like.

This game is incredibly hard! You need to build up strategies for every Level, in every Chapter. It may seem frustrating to some, including me. But believe me, once you finish that level, you are really satisfied with yourself. Plus it gives you more gameplay, because it takes you longer to complete a level.
There are loads of extra modes, there's Multiplayer, Challenge Mode, and I believe they released an Update which allowed you to play online. Challenge mode isn't just there to keep you occupied. It actually gives you upgrades to your character for completing them. Such as more health, quicker abilities, and more ammunition. It's really awesome, and in some cases, needed to complete levels.
By completing chapters, and levels, you unlock new guns to start off with. Giving you more chance of completing the level. The game requires loads of strategy, so you may have to rethink your gun choice after you enter a level.
It's loads of fun mowing down Helghast, but this game isn't just shooting the hell out of everything you see. You need strategy in order to get to certain areas. Such as sneaking past Security, grenading unsuspecting Helghast, and removing threats, such as machine gunners.
This game isn't just a simple shooter where you kill everything. It really requires you to think, and if you don't like those types of games, it's probably not for you.
BUY OR NOT TO BUY: If you like strategy/shooting games, I recommend trying it out.
