God of War: Chains of Olympus, is a PSP-exclusive game in the God of War series. It's also the highest rated PSP game on MetaCritic, but why? Graphics? gameplay? gore? Or just the fact that it's God of War?

Incase you're wondering, yes, the above paragraph was intended to rhyme. I'm just that awesome.

God of War: Chains of Olympus is a prequel to the original game, so if you don't own a PSP, or don't own this game, it isn't essential to the story of the series.

The gameplay remains unchanged from the other games in the series. You basically rip apart and beat the heck out of everything you see. There's still quick time events, which I suck at, and there's still loads of box puzzles, which are tedious, but I still rule at them.

God of War is known for being graphic, and this game is no change from that. Some of the gorier moments include when you smash the Persian King's skull with a chest, and when you

What weapons does Kratos use to beat the heck out of his enemies? Well, he uses his trademark weapon, the Blades of Chaos, and a new weapon, the Gauntlet of Zeus. He also gets a Sun Shield later on to help him solve puzzles, and to block attacks. I hardly ever use it though, except when I have to.

There are so many upgrades in the game, it's pretty insane. You can collect 5 Phoenix Feathers to upgrade your magic, or 5 Gorgon Eyes to upgrade your Maximum Health. You find these in chests, all over the game. If you kill an enemy, destroy an object, or open a red chest, you will also receive red orbs, which you can use these to upgrade loads of stuff. Including your weapons, your damage dealt, your magic attacks, and they can be used to unlock new attacks/combos. I usually spend most of my time exploring the levels trying to find Red Orbs, because they really help you later on in the game.

There's some nice little features in the game that I like. They aren't major things, but they add to the experience. I love the way that Orbs come to you after they're released, so you don't waste time collecting them. I also like how gameplay turns into cutscenes flawlessly. Similar games have problems with loading times, but not this game.

BUY OR NOT TO BUY: Definitely a buy for any PSP owners who are fans of action games.
