In a few words, this game is great for all of you who like dungeon crawls, colorful magic, and lots of blood.
Throughout the games, there are many magical items, and a few collectable (set) items, items which, when wearing two or more of the set, give you a special bonus!
There are many hidden "secrets" and "treasures" for experienced gamers, and they tend to "jump out at you" alot, so keep your head up.
There are four types of attacks, melee, ranged, nature magic and combat magic.
To level each type of skill up, you must use that power. (Ex. Use a sword to level up melee) After you have levelled up, you may pick a power to obtain or add to. A few examples of powers...
Raising or giving the ability to do a critical strike and/or making the critical strike more powerful.
Having a chance of having a power attack instantly recharged.
Raising your maximum mana.
Making your spells do more damage.
Making your spells cost less mana.
Making your summons more powerful (having more HP, doing more damage)..
That's right, I said summons. Magical beasts conjured to protect their master, the caster. (( haha, rhyme XD )) These beasts are simply a scroll which can be autocasted or manually casted, usually costing a large amount of mana. The scroll they are summoned from can be sold, and the beast will remain with you for the rest of its' duration.
Now, power attacks are... Well, power-attacks. They cover a wide range, and all have powers requirements. (Ex. 'Brutal attack' lvl 1 requires 1 point in 'Critical strike' and adds 1650.2% damage to your next attack. (Ouch, anyone?)) The power attacks recharge by hitting enemies, and killing enemies, and do not recharge over time.
In magic, there are three types of spells, summoning spells, enchantment spells, and attack spells. After obtaining these spellss, you may put them in your spell book ((Voice in background: Bee-Oh-Oh-Kay)). (Enchantment and summoning scrolls may be put under 'autocast spells' but attack spells may not.
Although attack spells are your plain ol' everyday spell, and i've already explained summoning spells, I'll now explain enchantment spells. Enchantment spells allow your weapon, or yourself extra powers. (Ex. Chance of turning enemies to stone, doing extra damage, draining their HP and adding it to yours (for weapons)... Or giving you more max hitpoints, making you do more damage... Etc.) But as with all good things, there is a catch - Here, it's a really good thing, so there's two catches. You may not have two weapon enchantments, or two self enchantments on you at the same time. (Although you may have a weapon
enchantment and a self enchantment on you at the same time.) Second, Nature magic will only power up melee weapons, and combat magic will only power up ranged weapons.
And to sum up magic, nature magic has several healing spells!
Pets. There are pet-stores in towns, in which you may buy a pet. Pets grow, and level up, by eating things. (No kidding! Feed those old junk studded leather boots to your pack mule - it'll make it grow!) When you feed it a particular type of item for the majority of a 'growth stage' the pet will gain a bonus in relevance to the type of items you feed it. (Ex. Feeding your pet melee armor will make it more resistant to physical attacks, feeding it swords will make its' attacks meaner...) The pets have unique powers, and at full growth, will add a special enchantment to you and your companions!
The Broken World expansion adds more things to spend your power points on. (fist of stone and blood assassin classes.) And several new items. In general, it makes the game easier to play as well, But not much more than that. I'd say it's worth the buy, but it's really up to you - If you think you'd enjoy a couple more items to play with, and 'paladin' abilities... Go for it.
One last note, when you 'disband' a party member (this also includes pets, but not summons.) they will go to the inn. When you visit the inn, there will be an option to view the people that you have 'disbanded'. From there you may release the characters permenantly.
Well, that's all! Thanks for reading, and have fun!
