Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is the newest installment in the incredible Castlevania series. Is it worthy of the praise it's receiving, or should it just be forgotten about?
You play as a girl named Shanoa, who's a part of an organization called the 'Order of Ecclesia'. Their main weapon against Dracula are things called Glyphs, which are made from 'Dominus', a power of Dracula's. The triad of Glyphs is about to be put into Shanoa, to help her defeat Dracula. Her best friend Albus then steals the Glyphs, and she has to go find him and..... SCREW IT. It's to damn confusing, even for a Castlevania game.
Anyways, the graphics look absolutely amazing. The characters move so fluently, and the enemies look pretty good too. You can actually tell what's going on, and the settings look pretty good. Especially the village, and the sea level.
The game doesn't contribute much new to the series, but it's still the tried and tested formula, and it's still fun. I like the combos, and that you can change around your glyphs, and other stuff like that.
Another thing I enjoy about this game, is the village. The environments look great, there's a store, just like in Simons Quest, except this game doesn't suck. I love the idea of having sort of a base, where you can just chill out and look around.
The Bosses are INSANELY HARD. Mostly because of poor design. I'm up to the Skeleton boss on Prison Island (2nd boss), and he's really, really hard. He pins me up against the wall, and just pounds me until I die. I literally screamed "SCREW THIS!" at least 3 times when I was fighting, he gets loads of cheap hits, and it's impossible to dodge the attacks unless you're an expert at Castlevania, which I'm not.
Well, this game's really hard. Everything about it. This is certainly one of my favorite Castlevania's, but it isn't an instant classic, like Super Castlevania IV is, but it's still a great installment in the series.
BUY OR NOT TO BUY: If you're a fan of Castlevania, or just looking for a challenge, certainly buy it.
