Having played the original Animal Crossing for the Nintendo GameCube, I can say this game is basically just a copy for the Nintendo DS. However, there are a few differences.

In the GameCube version, you start the game in a train, talking to a cat. This time, you're in a cab driven by Kapp'n (he was the turtle who brought you to the Gameboy island with his boat). The questions he asks you are very similar to the cat's, and your character's face will change depending on the answers you give.

When you arrive to the city (which you name), you get greeted by Tom Nook. Unfortunately, in the DS version of the game, there is only one house for all accounts you may have, as opposed to the four houses in the GameCube version, in which you have to choose the house you live in.

Finally, instead of acres, this game uses a weird map scrolling method while you're walking, so you never walk through borders.

The beginner jobs by Tom Nook are very similar. I haven't finished the jobs, but I can tell this game is pretty much the same. You make friends with the animal neighbours, you help them with chores, you make money to be able to upgrade your house. You buy furniture, design your house, design clothes, catch bugs and fish. It may get repetitive, but you'll keep coming back for more.

This game runs on real time, meaning if you miss a few days, weeds and cockroaches will show up. The items Tom Nook sells change everyday, and you certainly don't want to miss holidays!

I suggest this game to anyone who likes life simulations.

This game is very addictive and will make you want to play more. You can go to other people's towns and chat. The can wear clothes. Put things in a house. It's like what you do in real life. You also have neighboors but they are animals. Thats how I guess they got the name. You can fish and do all sorts of thing to help your town you live in.
